Serotonin Syndrome (a life-threatening condition) may occur when very high doses of methylene blue are administered with SS-RIs, drugs that increase serotonin, and the effects can be lethal. The FDA maintains a warning to not combine methylene blue with SS-RI however, the Mayo Clinic retracted this warning, and the country of Canada has as well. Do not use methylene blue with SS-RIs or medicines such as MDMA, MDA, and Ayahuasca as they increase serotonin or have MAO-I properties like methylene blue. Do not use methylene blue with supplements such as 5-hydroxytryptophan which can increase serotonin levels.
